Young-eh Kim didn’t mean to be the chef at her and her husband Joseph Kim’s Gangnam restaurants, but her renditions of traditional Korean dishes were what the couple decided they needed to serve.

When Joseph Kim and his wife Young-eh Kim decided to open a pair of authentic Korean restaurants in Owensboro, Kentucky, and Evansville, they had every intention of hiring an experienced Korean restaurant chef to run the kitchen. “We flew them in and had them make five dishes. If you’ve never eaten at a traditional Korean restaurant, the meal service is a bit different from what you’ve had elsewhere. If you like wings, you’ll enjoy Gangnam’s crunchy-sticky wings, first fried in their special tempura batter, then flash-crisped and tossed with sauce before serving sprinkled with scallion and sesame seeds.

On the sushi menu, don’t miss the “rolls on fire,” a special selection of rolls that are wrapped in heavy foil, placed carefully in a pool of grain alcohol on the plate and brought flaming to the table.
