Maybelline gigi hadid collection and verdict idiva yellow bridesmaid dresses images

However, for a naturally-beautiful, makeup-skipping supermodel like gigi hadid, a makeup line doesn’t seem to make sense. However, when we tested out her makeup line in collaboration with maybelline, we realised why it does indeed make sense.

You see, gigi hadid claims to be a low-maintenance cool girl who has no time for elaborate makeup. Sticking to the basics, and doing as much as she can with the products she has, she is a big proponent of keeping it simple. Her minimalist collection, with mix-and-match products for different purposes, proves this.

Now, while some of the products are new concoctions, many of them are old products repackaged. We tell you all about these, including which ones you should buy, and which you should skip.Gigi hadid the new products the tinted primers

Gigi hadid, a self-confessed low-maintenance girl who says she can’t be bothered with glamming up all the time, says a tinted moisturiser (or primer, in this case), helps her look glowing and flushed with colour when she is on the go.

This primer seems to be meant for only that. However, it only comes in only two shades for light and medium skin , so is hardly something most of us will end up using.

That being said, it is touted as a product that helps sculpt skin, a claim that needs investigating. Some makeup artists use tinted moisturisers in darker colours to contour underneath the foundation, and this product *seems* to intend to do that, except that it doesn’t really.Base shade

As for the actual priming, it doesn’t really help makeup last longer or fill pores. It also doesn’t help makeup go on more smoothly. So, we’d say you won’t miss out if you pass on this product. The jetsetter palette

These palettes consist of a concealer, blush, bronzer, highlighter, mascara, and a few shades of eyeshadows and lipsticks. The bronzer, blush, and highlighter are all blendable and impressive. The whole kit also comes with two brushes. So, the idea behind the palette is to have a little bit of everything, in case you want to do your makeup on the go. In fact, the eyeshadows can even be applied as eyeliner, proving the kit is multi-purpose.

But in practical terms, it might not be a great buy.Base shade first of all, the concealers are too light for indian skin, and crease way too much under the eyes. As for application, the small brush they provide isn’t ideal for blush or bronzer application. Not only that, the pans containing blush and bronzer are so small, that you end up dipping into other products while trying to apply one of them. The fiber mascara

To use this dual-ended mascara, you first apply a coat of the mascara, then the fiber portion, and then layer on the mascara again. Very volumising albeit clumpy, it’s ideal if you have sparse lashes and want thickness. The eye contour palettes

An eyeshadow palette available in warm and cool variation like the rest of the collection’s offerings, these palettes come with one large base shade, and four small neutral shades.Base shade the idea is to sweep the pale base shade over your lid, and then contour and shade your lid with the remaining shades. However, the problem is that the base shade is shimmery, and falls everywhere. Not only that, considering the 800 rupee price tag of this palette, the product quantity and quality you get is not worth it. The liquid eyeliner

There are two palettes in this range, the cool-toned east coast palette and the warm-toned west coast palette. They are more expensive than maybelline’s regular city palettes, but have the same formulation. The eyeshadow colours are mix and match versions of what you already get in the city palettes. That being said, they are quite powdery, so expect a lot of fall out.Base shade however, since the shades are pretty and the colour payoff of the eyeshadows is impressive and pigmented, these are worth buying. The strobing liquids

These strobing creams are basically the same as the maybelline master strobing liquid, so you just end up paying more for the packaging, gigi hadid’s name, and the limited edition colours. However, the non-gigi variation of the same products are much more pigmented and bright.

This product is way more light and natural, in keeping with gigi’s low-key personal beauty preferences. There are two shades in the range, gold and iridescent. The former is definitely more pigmented, and looks fantastic on indian skin. The latter is a pink-toned, pale colour that can end up looking a bit chalky.Gigi hadid we recommend using the gold liquid mixed in with your BB cream or foundation, for an all-round, jlo-esque glow. Lipsticks

Quite similar to the colour sensational lipsticks but a few hundred bucks more expensive, these creamy matte lipsticks come in six shades. However, the shades are different from the colours in the other range, and these lipsticks are a lot more comfortable and creamy to wear, making them one of the best items in this range.
